Which iPhone Do I Have? How to Identify Your iPhone Model
Not sure whether you have an iPhone 16 Pro, 17, Air, SE or another model? Check the exact model before ordering a precision-cut skin, case or accessory.
Quick answer: find your iPhone model in Settings
On your iPhone, open Settings → General → About. Look for the model name and model number. This is usually the fastest way to identify the exact iPhone you own.
Why the exact iPhone model matters
Different iPhones can have similar screen sizes and very similar shapes, but small changes to the camera area, buttons, frame, dimensions and rear layout can make a model-specific skin or case incompatible.
Method 1: Settings → General → About
1. Open Settings
Tap the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Tap General
Open the General section.
3. Tap About
This page contains identifying information about the phone.
4. Check the model
Note the model name and model number before ordering your skin.
Method 2: use the model number
If the model name is unclear, use the model number and compare it with Apple's official identification list. Apple maintains a current page covering iPhone model numbers and identifying details.
Do not identify an iPhone by appearance alone
Camera count, colour, screen size and connector type can narrow things down, but several generations can still look extremely similar. The safest route is the model information in Settings or Apple's model-number list.
Common iPhone model mix-ups
Standard vs Pro
The standard and Pro models can share similar screen sizes while using different camera systems and body details.
Pro vs Pro Max
The larger Pro Max needs its own skin. Do not order a Pro skin simply because the design looks similar.
Mini vs standard
Mini models use a smaller body and need their own template.
SE generations
Different iPhone SE generations can look similar, so checking the exact model is especially important.
iPhone Air
iPhone Air is a separate model family and should not be treated as a standard iPhone with the same screen size.
Foldable iPhone
iPhone Duo uses a completely different foldable layout and its own product template.
What should I check before ordering an iPhone skin?
- The exact iPhone model name
- The generation number
- Whether it is standard, Plus, Pro, Pro Max, Mini, Air, SE or Duo
- The model number if you are still unsure
What if my iPhone will not switch on?
If you cannot access Settings, use Apple's official iPhone identification guide and the model information available from the device, packaging or your Apple account records. Do not guess from the colour alone.
Which iPhone skin should I order?
Once you know the exact model, use the XtremeSkins iPhone selector to open the matching product page. Each supported iPhone has its own model-specific skin template.
