Can't see your model listed? A similar earbud model with the same skin type can demonstrate the basic method. Shapes and openings may differ: always use the correct model-specific skin. Do not wet-fit earbuds or charging cases.

Before you start

Check WF-1000XM4

Confirm the earbuds, not WH-1000XM4 headphones or another WF generation. Match the pieces to your selected coverage.

Prepare the surfaces

Disconnect charging and follow Sony's cleaning guidance. Keep moisture away from contacts, microphones and openings, and let surfaces dry.

Handle small sections carefully

Use clean hands and good lighting. Leave unused pieces on the backing and avoid touching the adhesive.

Fitting your WF-1000XM4 skins

Use the video for exact placement and application order.

  1. Check orientation

Compare each piece with its intended perimeter and cut-outs before firm pressure. Do not stretch it into place.

  2. Apply progressively

Follow the backing-removal method shown and smooth gradually, avoiding repeated lifting and pulling.

  3. Finish the curves

Follow the supplied method for shaped surfaces. Do not use a heat gun or overheat the earbuds or case.

  4. Check charging clearances

Keep contacts, sensors, microphones, sound outlets and ports clear. Check that earbuds seat and any case lid moves without force.

Installation questions

Can the skin cover a microphone or sensor?

No. Apply each piece only to its intended surface and keep all functional openings and contacts clear.

What if a piece wrinkles?

Stop before stretching it further. Check the method shown or send us a close-up so we can help with that piece.
