How to apply a Google Home skin
Google Home skin installation video
Watch our Google Home video before applying your skin. Check that the speaker and skin match the model shown, then identify the intended surface for each supplied piece.
Pause and replay each stage. Watch on YouTube ↗
Can't see your model listed? Use a similar speaker with the same skin type to understand the basic method. Shape, controls and seams may differ, so always use a skin made for your exact model. Do not wet-fit a speaker.
Before you start
Check the speaker
Match your Google Home model to the order. Do not assume another Home or Nest speaker uses the same pieces.
Unplug and clean
Disconnect the power. Follow the manufacturer's surface-care advice, keep moisture out of openings and let the fitting area dry.
Watch before peeling
Use clean, dry hands and good lighting. Keep unused pieces on the backing and your supplied instructions nearby.
Fitting your Google Home skin
Follow the video for the exact starting position, seam placement and order.
-
Find the intended surface
Compare each piece with the area shown in the video. Fit only the smooth exterior surfaces the skin is designed to cover, not fabric or speaker grilles.
-
Check the starting edge
Compare the edges and functional openings before pressing firmly. Check where the piece should finish before wrapping around the body.
-
Smooth around gradually
Follow the backing-removal method shown. Do not pull the vinyl tight or stretch it to move a seam.
-
Inspect the finished fit
Keep microphones, speakers, controls, indicators and the power connection unobstructed. Stop if a piece bridges an opening or does not match.
Installation questions
Can I cover the speaker fabric?
Only fit the surfaces shown for your supplied skin. Do not stick vinyl over fabric, grilles or functional openings.
What if the seam does not meet as expected?
Stop and check the model and starting position. Do not stretch the skin or trim it on the speaker. Send us photos for help.
What about bubbles or creases?
Do not use a pin or extra force. See our fitting troubleshooting guide.
