Can't see your model listed? A similar headphone model with the same skin type can demonstrate the basic method. Shapes and openings may differ: always use the correct model-specific skin. Do not wet-fit headphones.

Before you start

Check WH-1000XM3

Confirm the headphone model, not WF-1000XM3 earbuds or another XM generation. Match each supplied piece to its intended surface.

Prepare the surfaces

Switch off and unplug the headphones. Follow Sony's cleaning guidance and let surfaces dry, keeping moisture away from cushions and openings.

Set yourself up

Use clean hands and good lighting. Leave unused pieces on the backing and keep your instructions beside you.

Fitting your Sony XM3 headphone skin

  1. Compare each cup piece

Check left and right orientation, the perimeter and any functional cut-outs before firm pressure.

  2. Smooth gradually

Follow the backing-removal method shown. Do not stretch a piece to make an opening reach.

  3. Finish the curves

Use gentle hairdryer warmth only where instructed. Avoid heat guns and excessive heat.

  4. Inspect movement and access

Keep ports, microphones, controls and acoustic openings clear. Check folding and adjustment without forcing anything.
