Can't see your model listed? Use a similar dual-screen device with the same skin type for the basic method. Camera openings and exterior shapes may differ; always use the correct model-specific skin. Do not wet-fit or place exterior vinyl on displays or the hinge mechanism.

Before you start

Confirm Surface Duo 2

Check the model on your order, not the original Surface Duo. Match each exterior piece to its intended location.

Prepare the surfaces

Switch off and unplug the device. Follow Microsoft's cleaning advice and let surfaces dry, keeping moisture away from openings.

Plan the fitting sequence

Use clean, dry hands and good lighting. Keep unused pieces on the backing and watch the video before starting.

Fitting your Surface Duo 2 skin

  1. Check camera-area alignment

Compare the intended cut-outs and outer edges together. Do not stretch vinyl to make an opening reach.

  2. Apply progressively

Follow the backing-removal method shown, smoothing each exterior panel gradually without bridging moving parts.

  3. Finish small sections carefully

Follow the supplied method for shaped areas. Do not trim on the device or apply pressure to either display.

  4. Inspect moving clearances

Keep screens, cameras, hinges, ports, sensors and controls clear. Stop if a skin piece catches during movement.

Installation questions

Can I use an original Surface Duo skin?

Use a skin made specifically for Surface Duo 2. Similar fitting techniques do not make different generations' panels interchangeable.

What about bubbles or lifting?

Avoid pins and extra force. Read our troubleshooting guide or send a photo.
