Can't see your model listed? A similar speaker with the same skin type can show the basic technique. Generations have different shapes and openings, so use a skin made for your exact device. Do not wet-fit a speaker.
Before you start
Check the generation
Match Echo Dot 3rd Gen to the order. Do not judge compatibility by the Echo name alone.
Unplug and clean
Disconnect power. Follow Amazon's surface-care instructions, keep moisture out of openings and allow the fitting area to dry.
Prepare to fit
Use clean hands and good lighting. Watch first and leave unused pieces on the backing.
Fitting your Echo Dot skin
Follow the video and your supplied instructions for the exact placement and application order.
-
Identify the fitting area
Match each piece to the intended smooth surface. Do not apply vinyl over speaker fabric or grilles.
-
Check the openings
Compare button and microphone openings with the piece before pressing firmly. Check the full perimeter rather than one point alone.
-
Smooth down gradually
Use the backing-removal method shown. Avoid touching the adhesive and do not pull the vinyl to correct its position.
-
Inspect the finish
Keep controls, microphones, speaker surfaces, indicators and connections unobstructed. Stop if any piece does not match the intended area.
Installation questions
Will a different Echo Dot skin fit?
Use the skin made for your exact generation. A shared fitting method does not establish compatibility between models.
What if a button cut-out is off-centre?
Stop and check the model and orientation. Do not cut the skin on the speaker or stretch it into position. Send us a photo.
What about bubbles or lifting?
Do not use a pin or extra force. Read our fitting troubleshooting guide.
