Google Pixel 9 Skins: 9a, Pro, Pro XL & Pro Fold Guide

Five names, five dedicated listings

Not completely sure which one is yours? Use the Pixel model identification guide rather than judging from the phone's colour or purchase date.

These are the options offered, not the contents of every kit. Your chosen configuration determines the pieces supplied. Finishes can also differ between listings.

Let the camera area and logo do different jobs

A contrasting camera-area finish can give the rear panel a stronger visual break on the models that offer it. Keep the lenses, flash and sensors unobstructed: camera-area vinyl is not a glass lens protector.

The Accent selection refers to the G-logo detail, not the camera surround. That smaller area can pick up a colour from the main design without changing the whole camera section.

Try a neutral back with a bright G, or coordinate the back and sides while changing the camera area where available. Use the preview to make sure you are selecting the detail you intended.

Pixel 9a deserves its own configuration

The 9a's current choices are Back, Sides and Accent. A skin for the standard Pixel 9 should not be substituted simply because the number is the same.

Clear Matt and Clear Gloss are not currently listed on the Pixel 9a product. Choose from its available coloured, textured and printed finishes rather than carrying over a finish list from another Pixel 9 model.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold: check exterior coverage carefully

The folding model has Back, Camera and Accent options. Those do not imply that a side kit, hinge wrap or screen protector is included.

Apply only the supplied sections to their intended exterior surfaces. Do not put exterior vinyl on the flexible inner display, disturb its factory layers or bridge a moving joint. See our foldable phone skin guide for the difference between surface coverage and protection for the whole device.

Choose a finish you will enjoy using

Textured Matt suits a subtle colour change with a tactile surface. Carbon Fibre gives a woven-effect appearance, Brushed Metal a directional texture, and Wood or Leather effect vinyl a different visual character.

Prefer something more expressive? Explore the printed designs offered on your listing, including Abstract, Doodles, Onyx and floral options where available. Pattern placement can vary between individual cuts.

Full Colour gives a coordinated finish across the supplied exterior pieces. Custom allows individual available sections and compatible finishes to be combined. It is worth deciding which surfaces you want to cover before getting carried away with the colours. Easily done.

Skin or CustomX case?

Choose a direct-to-phone skin when your priority is changing the finish and limiting cosmetic wear on the surfaces it covers. Choose a suitable protective case when impact cushioning matters more. A vinyl wrap is not equivalent to a drop-protective case.

For a case-based setup, there are separate Pixel 9 CustomX, Pixel 9 Pro CustomX and Pixel 9 Pro XL CustomX listings. Check each product's fitting instructions; a case skin is not the same template as a skin for the bare phone.

Get the alignment right before pressing down

For a standard coloured or textured skin, prepare the appropriate exterior surfaces and allow them to dry. Check which piece goes where, then establish the alignment before applying firm pressure.

Use our Pixel 9 fitting page for the model it demonstrates. A shared family name does not prove identical fitting steps on a Pro, 9a or folding model; ask us when a section or guide is unclear.

Keep camera and other functional openings clear. Air-release adhesive helps with trapped air on suitable finishes, but cannot correct a dirty surface or an incorrectly positioned cut-out. Only use gentle heat where instructed and do not let the device become hot.

Clear skins are a separate fitting choice

Where your product offers Clear Matt or Clear Gloss, follow the clear-skin installation guide rather than the dry method. Check device suitability and condition before wet fitting, keep liquid away from openings, and do not use a wet process on a damaged or unsuitable phone.
