Your iPad Is Only Part of the Setup

For many of us, an iPad isn't just a tablet anymore.

Add a Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil and it becomes a portable workstation, sketchbook, notebook, editing suite and entertainment device.

The problem is that Apple's beautifully minimal design also means millions of iPad setups end up looking remarkably similar.

That's where skins get interesting.

Instead of customising only the iPad, XtremeSkins lets you carry your chosen colours and textures across the rest of your compatible Apple setup.

START WITH THE IPAD

Give Your iPad a Completely Different Look

Apple's iPad design is deliberately clean and understated.

That's great if you want your iPad to look exactly like an iPad.

If you'd rather make it look like your iPad, a precision-cut vinyl skin gives you considerably more choice.

Our iPad skins are available across a range of supported iPad, iPad Air and iPad Pro models, with premium colours, textures and printed designs to choose from.

Depending on the model and available options, you can change the main rear finish and customise supported sections without covering your iPad with a thick shell.

Why Put a Skin on an iPad?

Scratch Protection

Helps protect covered surfaces against everyday scratches, scuffs and cosmetic wear.

Minimal Bulk

Ultra-thin vinyl keeps the slim profile that makes the iPad so easy to carry.

More Choice

Choose colours and physical textures Apple simply doesn't offer from the factory.

Change It Later

Vinyl customisation isn't permanent, so you can change the look again when you're ready.

DON'T STOP AT THE TABLET

Customise Your iPad Magic Keyboard Too

This is where an iPad setup can really start to look different.

Apple's Magic Keyboard has large exterior surfaces, which makes it one of the most noticeable parts of an iPad setup when the tablet is closed.

Our iPad Magic Keyboard skins let you change those surfaces with premium vinyl while helping protect covered areas against everyday marks and scuffs.

Depending on your exact Magic Keyboard model, supported skin sections can include the exterior body, keyboard surround or palm-rest area and trackpad. Always select the skin made for your specific keyboard model.

FULL COLOUR OR CUSTOM

Your Magic Keyboard Doesn't Have to Be One Colour

On supported XtremeSkins Magic Keyboard products, you can choose a single coordinated finish or use the Custom option to mix colours and textures across available sections.

That opens up considerably more possibilities than simply choosing black or white.

Match the iPad. Contrast it. Match the Pencil. Or make every section different.

Magic Keyboard Skins for Different iPad Models

Magic Keyboards aren't universally interchangeable, and neither are their skins. Always choose the product designed for your exact keyboard size and generation.

THE FINISHING TOUCH

Don't Leave the Apple Pencil Plain

Once you've customised the iPad and Magic Keyboard, a completely standard white Apple Pencil can suddenly look a little lonely.

Apple Pencil skins are a smaller detail, but they're one of our favourite parts of a complete iPad setup.

You can keep things coordinated by matching your Pencil to the iPad or keyboard, or deliberately use it as the contrasting part of the design.

Apple Pencil Pro, Apple Pencil Gen 2 and Apple Pencil Gen 1 can all be customised with dedicated skins, so you can carry the same colour or texture across your iPad, Magic Keyboard and Pencil.

And if you've always thought an Apple Pencil should look a little more like an actual pencil, a Wood finish gives you a pretty good opportunity.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT PENCIL

Apple Pencil Skins

Different Apple Pencil generations have different dimensions and features, so make sure you choose the skin designed for your Pencil.

Apple Pencil Pro

ONE SETUP. YOUR DESIGN.

Match Everything — Or Deliberately Don't

There are basically two ways to approach a complete iPad setup.

OPTION ONE

Match Everything

Use the same or complementary finish across the iPad, Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil for a clean, coordinated setup.

OPTION TWO

Mix Everything

Use contrasting colours and textures to turn each accessory into a separate part of the overall design.

There's no correct combination — which is rather the point.

NEED SOME INSPIRATION?

iPad Setup Ideas We'd Try

Black Carbon

Black Carbon Fibre across the iPad and keyboard with a contrasting Pencil for a stealthy setup.

Modern Oak

Use Wood across the larger surfaces and turn the Apple Pencil into something that looks much more pencil-like.

Textured Matt

One understated colour across the whole setup for a minimal look with more texture than standard Apple finishes.

Full Contrast

Different colours on the iPad, keyboard and Pencil for a setup that makes absolutely no attempt to look factory standard.

More Than Just Different Colours

The biggest difference between a vinyl skin and simply choosing another device colour is texture.

Depending on the product, our range includes premium finishes such as:

Carbon Fibre Textured Matt Brushed Metal Leather Wood Camo Natural Stone Matt Gloss Printed Designs

So you're not simply changing silver into black or blue. You can completely change the character and feel of the setup.

What Does an iPad Skin Actually Protect Against?

A vinyl skin provides cosmetic surface protection.

It can help protect covered areas of your iPad, Magic Keyboard or Apple Pencil against:

  • Everyday scratches
  • Scuffs
  • Marks
  • Dirt and grease
  • General cosmetic wear

What a vinyl skin doesn't provide is substantial impact protection.

If dropping your iPad is the main concern, use an appropriate protective case. A skin is primarily for people who want to keep their device slim while adding personalisation and surface protection.

Can You Use an iPad Skin With a Case?

In many situations, yes.

Because vinyl is extremely thin, many iPad cases and keyboard accessories can still be used with a skin installed.

However, particularly tight-fitting cases can place pressure on the edges of a skin and potentially cause them to lift.

If you're planning to combine a skin and case, make sure the skin edges are properly applied and check how tightly your chosen case fits the device.

MAGIC KEYBOARD REMOVAL

Take Extra Care When Removing Magic Keyboard Skins

Apple has used soft-touch surface materials on some Magic Keyboard models.

Because of that, a Magic Keyboard skin should always be removed slowly and carefully.

Don't simply grab a corner and rip the vinyl off.

If you're removing a skin from one of these softer surfaces, take your time and follow the removal guidance supplied for your particular product.

INSTALLATION

Take Your Time and Let the Vinyl Do the Work

Large iPad and Magic Keyboard surfaces can actually be quite satisfying to skin — provided you don't rush.

Start with a completely clean surface, carefully line up the important edges and openings, and gradually smooth the vinyl into position.

Where a particular installation calls for it, gentle heat from a normal hairdryer can make suitable vinyl more flexible and help it settle around shaped areas.

Air-release technology on compatible materials can also help trapped air escape while you're smoothing the vinyl down.

Good alignment first. Firm pressure second. Speed somewhere near the bottom of the list.

PREMIUM MATERIALS

The Vinyl Matters Too

A good skin isn't just about getting the cut right.

Across our solid and textured ranges, XtremeSkins uses premium architectural-grade and vehicle-wrap vinyl materials selected for their appearance, flexibility and adhesive performance.

Our printed designs use genuine 3M vinyl protected with a crystal-clear laminate.

Different finishes can vary in thickness, texture and flexibility, which is part of what makes choosing a skin about more than simply choosing a colour.

QUICK ANSWERS

iPad, Magic Keyboard & Apple Pencil Skin FAQs

Are iPad skins worth it?

If you want to personalise your iPad and help protect covered surfaces against everyday scratches and scuffs without adding significant bulk, a vinyl skin is an excellent option.

Do iPad skins protect against drops?

No. Vinyl skins provide cosmetic surface protection rather than substantial impact protection. Use a suitable case if drop protection is your priority.

Can I skin my iPad Magic Keyboard?

Yes. XtremeSkins offers dedicated Magic Keyboard skins for a range of supported iPad Pro and iPad Air keyboard models.

Can I customise the Magic Keyboard trackpad?

Trackpad skin options are available on supported Magic Keyboard products. The skin adds a physical surface to the trackpad, so it can feel slightly different while remaining usable when correctly installed.

Can I put a skin on Apple Pencil Pro?

Yes. We offer dedicated Apple Pencil Pro skins in a range of colours, textures and designs.

Do you make Apple Pencil Gen 2 skins?

Yes. Dedicated Apple Pencil Gen 2 skins are available for customising supported areas of the Pencil.

Do you make Apple Pencil Gen 1 skins?

Yes. We also offer dedicated Apple Pencil Gen 1 skins.

Will an Apple Pencil skin affect charging?

A correctly fitted, compatible ultra-thin skin is designed to allow normal use of the Apple Pencil. Always select the skin made specifically for your Pencil generation.

Can I match my iPad, Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil?

Absolutely. Where the same finish is available across each compatible product, you can create a coordinated setup or deliberately mix different colours and textures.

Will an iPad skin add bulk?

Very little. Vinyl skins are extremely thin, making them a good option if you want cosmetic protection and customisation while retaining the slim feel of the iPad.

Where are XtremeSkins iPad skins made?

Our skins are precision cut and manufactured in the UK using premium vinyl materials.

BUILD THE WHOLE SETUP

Final Thoughts

An iPad setup can be as simple as a tablet on the sofa or as complete as an iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil used every day for work or creativity.

Whichever way you use yours, skins give you the freedom to change the look, add tactile finishes and help protect covered surfaces without hiding everything underneath a bulky shell.

Apple builds the setup. You decide what it looks like.
